A renovation and expansion of a small cottage in the north of Norway. The existing cottage lies surrounded by high trees near the edge of the fjord Lavangen. On the west side, the living room is expanded with a new addition. A large corner window opens the interior up to the landscape and the water, and the existing veranda is expanded across the cabin to create a new outdoor terrace. On the north side, an existing log cabin in poor technical state is replaced with another new addition that has two bedrooms and an improved entrance. Subtle details, materials and spatial patterns indicate that the expansions are a new chapter in the cabin’s history. A new green roof is planned to be placed over the entire cottage. The new expansions are carefully dimensioned and placed to protect all existing trees.

En renovering og utvidelse av en liten hytte i Nord-Norge. Den eksisterende hytta ligger omgitt av høye trær rett ved kysten i Lavangen. På vestsida blir stua utvidet i et nytt tilbygg. Et stort hjørnevindu åpner det indre rommet opp mot landskapet og vannet, og eksisterende veranda blir utvidet på tvers av hytta for å skape en ny utvendig terrasse. På nordsida blir en eksisterende laftet del i dårlig teknisk stand fjernet og erstattet med et annet nytt tilbygg som inneholder to soverom og et utbedret inngangsparti. Subtile detaljer, materialer og romlige mønster indikerer at tilbyggene er et nytt kapittel i hyttas historie. Et nytt grønt tak er planlagt over hele hytta. De nye tilbyggene er forsiktig dimensjonert og plassert for å beskytte alle eksisterende trær.
