"SVITLO" - a concept for an ecologically conscious catalogue house that can be produced and built in many different places, both in residential districts in existing cities and farther out in the countryside.

A transition to biologically based construction does not only entail substituting certain building materials with others. It will also make necessary new building methods, a new style and new ways of living, in addition to a new disposition towards how resources are used and temporarily stored in buildings before they are reused in new houses or returned to natural ecosystems.

SVITLO is a catalogue house that is designed to be built with materials with biological or mineral origin to the greatest possible extent, with a healthy interior climate without synthetic surface treatments. The design is the result of the integration of practical spatial needs with ecological consciousness. The house is based on a simple rectangular footprint of 13,15 x 7 meter on the inside with an asymmetrical pitched roof. Onto this primary volume it is possible to add various additions according to desire and need: a carport with an exterior storage room to the north, a greenhouse on the south facade, and other additions with more rooms or a rental apartment to the east and west.

"Svitlo" means "light" in Ukrainian. A timeless expression ensures that the house will fit visually into a variety of existing contexts, as well as appeal to a diversity of future users. Simultaneously the house has various unique spatial qualities which gives it a special character in comparison with normal catalogue houses.

"SVITLO" - et konsept for et økologisk bevisst typehus som kan produseres og oppføres på mange forskjellige steder i landet, både i boligområder i eksisterende byer og tettsteder og lengre ute på landet.

En omstilling til biobasert byggeri handler ikke bare om å bytte ut visse materialer med andre alternativ. Det vil også nødvendiggjøre nye byggemetoder, en ny byggeskikk og nye boformer, i tillegg til en ny holdning til hvordan ressurser brukes og mellomlagres i bygninger før de brukes om i nye hus eller føres tilbake til naturlige økosystem.

SVITLO er et typehus som kan bygges med materialer med biologisk eller mineralsk opprinnelse i størst mulig grad, med et helsefremmende inneklima uten syntetiske overflatebehandlinger. Utformingen er resultatet av å samordne praktiske arealbehov og økologisk bevissthet. Huset er basert på en enkel, rektangulær grunnflate på 13,15 x 7 meter innvendig med asymmetrisk saltak. På dette hovedvolumet er det mulig å legge til ulike tilbygg etter behov og ønske: en garasje/carport med utebod i nord, et veksthus i sør, og andre utvidelser med flere oppholdsrom eller utleiedel i øst og vest.

"Svitlo" betyr "lys" på ukrainsk. Et tidløst uttrykk sikrer at huset vil passe visuelt inn i varierte eksisterende sammenhenger samt falle i smak hos et mangfold av framtidige brukere. Samtidig har huset visse unike romlige kvaliteter som gir det noe mer enn et helt vanlig typehus.
